Bertha Picard, Lifelong Easton Resident

Bertha Bartosik Picard, a lifelong Easton resident, died March 1 at St. Vincent's Medical Center. She was 88.

Born in Easton, she was the wife of John "Jack" E. Picard. Before her retirement, she was employed with Pepperidge Farm as an accountant and financial planner for more than 27 years. After she retired, she became the assistant tax collector for the Town of Easton. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and the outdoors. She was also a cat rescuer.

Picard is survived by two daughters, Janet Spingler and husband Anthony of Huntington, and Barbara Tenore of Monroe and her dog, Zachary; and two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband and her brother, Felix Bartosik.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated last Saturday at Notre Dame of Easton Church. Burial was held at Union Cemetery. Donations may be made in her memory to the Easton Animal Shelter, c/o of the Easton Police Dept., P.O. Box 7, Easton, CT 06612.
