Aquarion Offers Water to Powerless Eastonites

EASTON, Conn. -- Aquarion set up its Water Wagon at the Easton Public Library Friday morning to provide still-powerless Eastonites with clean water.

The Water Wagon was holding 190 gallons of water, left over from an event in Bridgeport, said Lorraine Bukowski, a public relations manager for Aquarion. Forty gallons were gone after only an hour-and-a-half of being at the library. Bukowski said she plans to stay until the truck is empty and has been seeing a steady stream of residents come to fill up. One resident said Joel Barlow High School was packed with people trying to get water.

The Easton Police Department is hanging out hot meals and water bottles. The volunteers there said more than 200 people had already stopped before 1 p.m. Friday and 400 between Thursday and Friday.
