Affordable Housing Hearing Postponed

A public hearing on the proposed Saddle Ridge affordable housing plans scheduled for Monday night has been rescheduled, according to the town Planning and Zoning Commission. The meeting has been changed to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 27, because an outside consultant for the town was not able to attend tonight.

Saddle Ridge Developers LLC has proposed building 33 buildings with 105 homes near Routes 136 and 59. Thirty-two of the homes would be designated as affordable housing.

A recent town plan of conservation and development showed only 0.4 percent of residences in Easton are deemed to be "affordable housing." By law, if a town does not reach 10 percent, a developer is allowed to appeal and propose a project.

The wetlands meeting has been rescheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 28, with a public hearing at 8 p.m. in the Helen Keller Cafeteria.
