EASTON, Conn. The Easton Community Center has a slate of activities for adults and kids as the leaves change and the weather gets cooler in the coming weeks. Here's a partial list:
Parents Night Out: Hey parents, do you need a night out without the kids? While you are out enjoying dinner and a movie, your kids will enjoy a fun-filled evening of games and a craft at the Easton Community Center. Other activities will include swimming, soccer and foosball. Kids 6 and older can climb the rock wall.
For the first time, this week's dinner for the kids is chicken tenders. The night out is set for Friday, Oct. 14, from 6:30 to 10 p.m., for ages 4 to 12. Preregistration is required. An additional $5 fee per participant will be added to anyone not registered and paid in full before Friday.
Learn to make henna tattoos: In this short class, you'll learn the ancient Indian art of henna, a completely natural, painless tattoo adornment that lasts seven to 20 days.
Instructor Dinal Doshi will show you how to mix the henna and make the tool to apply a henna tattoo. You'll receive henna recipes as well as information on where to buy the supplies. Then you'll learn how to apply the henna (typically to hands and feet) in some traditional designs. Plan on leaving the class with one or more completed henna tattoos on your body.
Growing up in India, Doshi has practiced the art of henna for the last 12 years. The class takes place Oct. 25, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Ages 11 & up. The cost is $25 for members, $25, $40 for nonmembers.
Lake Compounce Halloween Trip: Middle-schoolers can go on a Halloween trip to the Haunted Graveyard at Lake Compounce amusement park. The rides will be open at night, and there will be other creepy surprises throughout the park.
Transportation will be provided by the community center. The group will leave the community center at 4 p.m. Oct. 28 and return at 10:30 p.m. The deadline to register is Oct. 24.
