EASTON, Conn. Two hundred containers of nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, were found on Aquarion Water Company property on Jan. 1, Easton Police report. The chemical, which can be used as a recreational drug, was found in the 400 block of Center Road, an Aquarion spokeperson said.
Lorraine Bukowski, public relations manager for Aquarion, said Thursday that a law enforcement officer from Aquarion found a "large plastic bag" holding the chemical on the edge of Center Road. The bag also contained several balloons and beer bottle caps, she said. The officer contacted Easton police "in case there was a concern that juveniles were having a party" in the area, Bukowski said.
Nitrous oxide is commonly used as an anesthetic during surgery or in dentistry procedures. It can be used as a recreational drug because it creates a feeling of euphoria.
The bag containing the canisters was brought to Aquarion's environmental center on Black Rock Turnpike and disposed of. Bukowski said the case is now closed.

? A father and son were arrested by Easton police after an argument turned violent on Jan. 2. Police said they received a report at 6:30 p.m. from a 17 year old boy that he just got into a fight with his father.
According to police, the two got into a fistfight that resulted in the father, 57, sustaining a head injury. The father was taken to St. Vincents Medical Center in Bridgeport and has since been released, according to police.
Both were arrested and the son was charged with assault in the third-degree. The father was charged with disorderly conduct. A court date for the son, due to his age, was unavailable, but the father is scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on Feb. 8.
