EASTON, Conn. Work at Easton's new animal shelter is moving at "a snail's pace," according to Selectman Scott Centrella.
"I spoke with Mark Halstead, who said nothing is going on up there. There is generally one guy up there working," Centrella told his fellow selectmen Thursday. Halstead, architect for the project, sent an Aug. 18 email to First Selectman Thomas Herrmann detailing the work that has been done and what remains to be done. Yet to be completed, according to Halstead, are:
? Installation of doors, scheduled to be completed Aug. 1;
? Mechanical start-up, scheduled for completion Aug. 2.
? Taping in the kennels, scheduled for Aug. 4;
? Drywall offices and garage, scheduled for completion Aug. 8;
? Painting in the kennels, Aug. 9;
? Taping office and garage, Aug. 12;
? Painting doors, scheduled to be completed Aug. 12;
? Painting the office and garage, scheduled to begin Aug. 15;
? Hardware not begun, scheduled for completion Aug. 16;
? Epoxy floor, Aug. 16;
? Electrical fixtures in kennels, scheduled to be completed Aug. 17.
Halstead said in the email that the delay for the stucco "is ridiculous, and the reason I hear from the stucco contractor is that he is waiting for payment." Bob Carlson, construction manager for the project, responded in the email that he hasn't received a certified payroll and insurance from the contractor.
Carlson said in the email that some of the delay is due to a new requirement for insulation to be inspected by the fire marshal and that further projects, like drywall in the office and garage, can't be completed until that inspection is done.
Listed as being on track are: rough grading, installation of refrigerant lines, block wash down, drywall in kennels, insulation inspection by the town, insulation of the garage and offices, and roof vents.
