Westport Y Hosts Special Events This Weekend

WESTPORT, Conn. – The Westport Weston Family Y is holding two special events that are open to the entire community — not just Y members — this holiday weekend.

On Saturday, the Y will be transformed into a kids-only hangout from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. for Youth Fun Night. Open to kids in grades 4 through 7, activities will include swimming, basketball, games and "make-your-own" ice cream sundaes.

Tickets cost $12 if pre-purchased at the Y or online, and $15 at the door. Kids of parent volunteers get in for free. For more information about Youth Fun Night, call 203-226-8981.

To commemorate Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, the Y is inviting the entire community to participate in its programs and activities for free. To see a schedule of activities, programs and gym and pool times, visit the Y online.

Also on Monday, the Early Learning Program is hosting a Fun Bus for children participating in the school-age vacation special.

"Designed to provide kids ages 2 through 7 a day of fitness fun on wheels, the Fun Bus is a full-sized school bus completely transformed with seats removed, into a fully padded, carpeted play center," says Scott Smith, communications director for the Y announced.

The cost for Monday's school-age vacation special is $80. For more information about this program, or the Y's regular after-school program, visit the Y online or contact Tasha Dennison at tdennison@westporty.org or 203-226-8981, ext. 113.
