WESTPORT, Conn. More than 130 teen volunteers from Westport, Weston, Wilton and Norwalk are being honored Sunday for their involvement with Circle of Friends, a local nonprofit outreach program for children and teens with special needs, the organization announced in a statement.
Circle of Friends is an all-volunteer program of Beth Israel of Westport/Norwalk, in which children and teens with special needs are partnered with the teenage volunteers. These volunteers visit program participants weekly in their homes and after school.
Additionally, the children take part in an afternoon of educational and social activities with the teenage volunteers once a month. A social program for young adults with disabilities also is conducted monthly.
The teen volunteers will be presented with awards from U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal during the Circle of Friends eighth annual Evening of Recognition Dinner at Beth Israel of Westport/Norwalk, 40 King St., Norwalk. The organizations adult volunteers also will be honored.
The dinner will begin at 5 p.m. and the awards presentation will be at 6 p.m. Tickets for the event are $72, and includes dinner, musical entertainment and an auction. For reservations, call 203-293-8837 or make reservations online at circlefriendsct@gmail.com.
