Westport Cycling Studio Teams Up To Fight Cancer

WESTPORT, Conn. – Attention spinning enthusiasts: Do what you love and help fight breast cancer this March. Westport's JoyRide Cycling Studio is organizing a team to participate in SpinOdyssey 2012, an indoor cycling fundraiser that raises funds for breast cancer research.

The JoyRide team will be led by studio co-owner and lead instructor Rhodie Lorenz, a Westport resident who's participated in SpinOdyssey for the past six years.

"SpinOdyssey is one of my favorite events of the year," Lorenz said in a statement. "It combines the amazing group energy of an indoor cycling class with a noble cause to unite riders in their passion for making a difference and finding a cure for breast cancer. It is both an inspiring and grounding event, and I am honored to be a part of it."

The studio, which opened last summer, will also host training rides to help people prepare for SpinOdyssey. On Feb. 5 and Feb. 19, JoyRide will offer free, three-hour training sessions to build endurance. The studio will also host one-hour rides on Feb. 1 and Feb. 15.

Westport resident Patty Kondub, one of the SpinOdyssey organizers, said she's grateful JoyRide is taking part in the event.

"New teams to SpinOdyssey infuse positive energy and fundraising to SpinOdyssey, and keep us as a successful fundraising event for breast cancer research as we enter our 13th year," said Kondub.
