WESTPORT, Conn. CLASP Homes in Westport is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year with food, fashion and a few laughs, director of development Robin Hammond said.
The nonprofit organization, which provides supportive living situations for adults with autism and related developmental disabilities, will host a comedy show and fashion show this fall to commemorate its longtime service to the community. CLASP Homes serves 80 people in Westport, Norwalk, Wilton, Fairfield and Easton.
The comedy show, which will feature entertainer Jon Fisch and Moody McCarthy at the Fairfield Theatre Company, will be Oct. 10.
We thought it would be a fun way to raise our profile and for people to enjoy a night out thats a little different than other fundraisers, Hammond said. People can have a few laughs and support CLASP.
And have a few laughs they will. Fisch, who will be headlining the show, was hailed as one of Comedy Centrals Fresh Faces of Comedy and named one of Back Stage Magazines 10 Standout Stand-Ups. In 2009, he was handpicked to open for comedian Jerry Seinfeld at Gotham Comedy Club in New York City. The comedy show will feature a cash bar and hors d'oeuvres.
On Nov. 7, the organization will host its 9th annual Fashion Show and Luncheon at the Westport Womans Club. The clothes will be provided by retailer Eileen Fisher and modeled by the clients who benefit from CLASP Homes. Each year, the event is moving because it allows Hammond's clients the opportunity to feel beautiful for a day, she said.
Its a wonderful way for these ladies to shine. They feel like queens for a day getting their hair and makeup done, and then they have lunch with the guests after.
