Local Woman Pens Guide to Second Weddings

WESTON, Conn. – When Weston resident Stacey Tucker, also known as “StaceyLu,” was planning her second wedding, she started recording her experience. The result was “Eat, Drink and Remarry,” a memoir/wedding guide for encore brides and the first installment in the StaceyLu’s “Guides to Life” book series.

Tucker, who is also a blogger, met her first husband in the eighth grade. They married in 1996 and divorced in 2001. She became engaged again in 2003.  In “Eat, Drink and Remarry,” Tucker revisits her post-divorce years with candor and a reflective eye. The book includes accounts from women with similar stories.

“Eat, Drink and Remarry” covers the courtship of Tucker and her new husband, who also had just divorced when they began dating. She gives a snapshot of their romance and current life with a blended family of her three stepchildren, plus the 4-year-old son they share.

In her book, Tucker takes into consideration that one’s wedding preferences may have changed since a first marriage and delivers tips for those seeking something fresh. From choosing the locale for nuptials to writing vows, Tucker gives readers conventional ideas and creative alternatives, such as saying the “I dos” on a boardwalk or at a museum, or using a relevant poem or song lyrics in lieu of reciting familiar vows.

“Eat, Drink and Remarry” also advocates the need to establish a support system early on, whether it is a wedding planner, family, friends, or simply, the fiancé.

“When planning my second wedding, I felt isolated and overwhelmed, having taken on every aspect of the job,” Tucker said. “In my research, I learned others felt the same, so I wanted my book to be the written equivalent of a good friend.”

“Eat, Drink and Remarry” is available online at Amazon.
