So far, more than 100 cars and motorcycles are registered, said Marianne Brunson Frisch, a spokeswoman for the event. “We don’t know dhow many unregistered cars will come,” but organizers are expecting at least 100, or a turnout similar to last year.
Named after Weston car collector, Alden Sherman, last year’s inaugural classic car show brought nearly 1,000 people to town and raised more than $26,000 for the senior center.
“Everyone that works on the car show are all volunteers and the $26,000 was net profit,” Frisch said. And the funds raised go toward increased programming at the senior center.
The idea of having a classic car show as a fundraiser came from the center’s executive director, Wendy Petty, whose husband Frisch said, is a car guy.
This year’s event will feature car club parking corrals, a silent auction, varied lunch offerings, and the public’s opportunity to vote for their favorite car and motorcycle with People’s Choice ballots.
The winner of the People’s Choice, will receive a trophy, Frisch said.
The event is open to families of all ages and will run on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a rain date of Sept. 29.
It doesn’t cost anything to go to the event but a donation is requested of $20 for a family, $10 for an adult, $5 for a child and $2 for a senior.
