Weston's Green Up Day is a time when organizations and individuals are encouraged to pick up trash and clean up the town, said Richard Troxell of Weston.
The Kiwanis Club in Weston leads the troops Saturday as people go out in teams to pick up trash in public areas, including School Road, the Town Hall, the library and around the parks and recreation office. Kiwanis Club members will also lead trash pickup on their own streets and main streets in town such as Weston Road, Newtown Turnpike and Georgetown Road.
Paper bags to fill with trash will be available at the barn adjacent to the Norfield Congregational Church Parish Hall. The bags will be available from 8:15 a.m. to noon Saturday. Troxell said nearly 75 people are involved in the effort to green up Weston, including the Boy Scouts, the Girl Scouts, the Cub Scouts the garden club and more.
