WESTON, Conn. Images from Alison Wachstein, a Weston resident, are on display at the Bartlett Arboretum and Garden, 151 Brookdale Road in Stamford through September.
Come view images from three collections of Wachstein's, who is a master photographer and certified professional photographer. Included in the exhibition are enchanting, whimsical photographs of garden fairies captured in breath-taking close-ups of flowers along woodland paths, and peeking from unexpected places; portraits of families and children taken in gardens, at the beach and in the studio; and images of India capturing her love of the country and its people
From the first kiss to the first steps; from childhood through graduations, Master Photographer Alison Wachstein has been creating a collection of memories for generations to cherish. Capturing favorite expressions and relationships in exquisitely crafted portraits of families and children, her keen eye and deft control of flattering lighting and natural posing allow her to capture everyone at their best.
After receiving her bachelor's degree in psychology from Northwestern University, Wachstein was an honored photojournalist and lifestyle photographer in Aspen, Colo. and New Jersey. She has taught photography at Seton Hall, Fairleigh Dickinson and Fairfield universities as well as locally. She is a sought after speaker and judge at both professional and amateur photography organizations. Her photographs are in many private collections as well as the permanent collection at the International Center of Photography in NYC. Her book, Pregnant Moments, published by Morgan & Morgan has been highly regarded in both the childbirth and photography communities.
Wachstein meets with clients in a design conference before scheduling the photography session and listens to their dreams and needs. She helps in selecting appropriate clothing, makeup, location and other elements to reflect their desires, often coordinating with the room where the portraits will be displayed. Whether photographed in the studio, her gardens and woodland, the beach, their homes or another location of their choice, the families remember their exciting adventure with Alison. It's not unusual for her to provide tissues as everyone enjoys their images in a video presentation with music when they select their favorites. They often depart not only with their cherished portraits, but sometimes with seeds or perennials from Alison's garden for their own, since this photographer is also a Certified Master Gardener from the Bartlett Arboretum Class of 2010.
