Weston has a lot to be thankful for this year. The high school swim team and the Weston Lacrosse Club both won Class S state titles. Revson Fields will be up to date soon after the town receives its state grant, and the Community Food Pantry is getting more support than ever.
So it's no surprise when our town officials are all smiles when asked what they are thankful for. First Selectman Gayle Weinstein said she is most thankful for her family. "I'm thankful for my children. ... I'm also thankful for living in a society where we are able to work together to govern, and for living in a caring community that is involved and active in the schools and town affairs."
Police Chief John Troxell is also thankful for his family and the community. "I'm thankful this year so far in Weston we've had no major tragedies that our department has had to deal with directly, and hoping going forward in the year we can continue to enjoy our good fortune."
Local World War II veteran Al Mecozzi was simple and direct about the source of his gratitude. "I'm thankful for being married for 65 years to an amazing wife."
The Daily Weston is thankful for all the generosity shown to us during our first year in town. This tight-knit community has welcomed us with open arms, and we are excited to become a part of the Weston vision.
