WESTON, Conn. Friendship, fellowship and fun, coupled with community service, will be the focus of this coming year in Weston Kiwanis, says Harry Spencer, the club's new president.
Among the highlights for the year ahead is a renewed commitment to working with the young people in the community, as well as a strategic look at the club's philanthropic efforts. Through the club and the Weston Kiwanis Foundation, Weston Kiwanis has supported local organizations with grants of almost $70,000 in the past year alone.
Incoming Kiwanis Foundation President Rick Phillips saus he is looking forward to a year of planning new activities that have the potential to generate new revenues for the club's philanthropy in the community. During a recent meeting, the lieutenant governor of Kiwanis Division 24/25 presented distinguished club and public relations awards to Weston Kiwanis.
The Kiwanis Club of Weston sponsors a variety of programs and events to raise funds for local organizations whose activities benefit the community at large. This is Weston Kiwanis' 37th year.
The club is open to all men and women residing or working in the area. The club meets for breakfast every Saturday morning at 8:30 am at Norfield Congregational Church, except in July and August. Meetings often feature presentations by local, state, and national political figures and programs of general interest. Other meetings are followed by community service projects.
