Weston Kiwanis to Discuss Dodd-Frank Act

WESTON, Conn. — Weston residents will have an opportunity to learn and ask questions about the Dodd-Frank Act, which some have called the most sweeping U.S. financial regulatory reform since the 1930s.

Alex Young-Anglim, an attorney in the Financial Institutions Group at Davis Polk & Wardwell in New York, will discuss the law, beginning with the events that led to its creation and the circumstances under which it was drafted.

Young-Anglim will also give an overview of some of the key elements of the act (such as the Volcker Rule and the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau), the current political climate, court challenges and how the law will affect financial institutions.

The event will take place at the Weston Kiwanis meeting Saturday at Norfield Parish Hall. The public is welcome. For more information, including time of the event, please visit www.westonkiwanis.org.
