Weston JHS Class of '62 Celebrates

Almost half the 100 members of the Weston Junior High Class of 1962 came together Saturday night for a rousing, memory-filled reunion at the Red Barn in Westport.

"It's not every day that a junior high class has a reunion, but we knew we had to do it," said classmate Donna Edwards Brinckerhoff.

Weston didn't have a high school back then, and students went either to Staples High School in Westport or to private school. This class graduated after ninth grade from what is now Weston Middle School.

Another classmate, Sarah Zarbock of Lakeville, put it this way: "The friends we made when we were very young turned out to be some of our best friends as we got older." Former Westonites traveled from as far as California, Colorado and Georgia. Jane Blackburn West and her husband, Stephen, came from their home in Bermuda to attend the reunion.

As with most reunions, name tags were given out and prominently displayed to help bridge the 48-year gap.

This Weston Junior High reunion may have been the first of its kind, but judging from the fun and laughs, it probably won't be the last.
