WESTON, Conn. -- Taylor Moore, 12, was holding a sign and waving down cars on Lyons Plain Road Thursday afternoon yelling, "Lemonade!"
Taylor, a Weston Middle School student, and two of her classmates are trying to raise money for the World Wildlife Fund to help save tigers.
"There are a lot of animals becoming extinct and we want to help them," said Taylor. She said her friend, Taylor Greene, had been researching tigers and decided to raise money for the World Wildlife Fund. Cayla Koch, also a Weston Middle School student, has been helping with the effort.
The girls have raised more than $20 per day and claim to have "the best lemonade around," selling at 75 cents a cup.
According to the World Wildlife Fund's website, tiger population is at an all-time low, with 3,200 tigers left in the wild. Worsening the tiger's predicament is a competition for space that is being lost to humans and poaching, according to the Wildlife Fund. Activists are trying to double the population of tigers by 2022 by protecting their habitats.
