WESTON, Conn. ? The Weston Education Foundation is now accepting applications from Weston-based organizations and individuals for grants to develop programs for residents. Awards are given in amounts up to $1,500.
The non-profit foundation has provided financial support for worthy projects and programs in Weston since 1994.
Top priority goes to pilot programs and projects that promote educational opportunities, community building and are sustainable. Organizations and individuals are encouraged to apply for programs they feel will enhance the community. They can include projects in the arts, education, culture, environment, health and human services.
In the past, grants have helped fund computer education at the Senior Center, Civil War remembrance activities at the Weston Historical Society, the television studio at the high school and the Years in the Making documentary film. The most recent grants were awarded to the Weston Historical Society and the Weston Sustainability Committee.
WEF will accept grant applications until Nov. 1. The Grants Committee will review the applications and announce grants no later than Nov. 18.
