Weston Doctor Wins Physicians Award

WESTON, Conn. – Dr. Eric Mazur, vice president and chief medical officer at Norwalk Hospital who lives in Weston, has been elected as a Master of the American College of Physicians.

The award was bestowed by the American College of Physicians, a national organization of doctors of internal medicine, the largest medical-specialty organization and second largest physician group in the U.S.

Mazur was one of two physicians from Connecticut to receive the award this year.

Mazur has worked at Norwalk Hospital since 1995 and lived in Weston since 1996. He has spoken at Rotary Club functions in Weston and served on the Boosters Club at Weston High School.

Mazur said he specializes in chemotherapy and has been involved with supervising and training physicians and overseeing educational programs at Norwalk Hospital. He led the development of a teaching hospitalist program, which is dedicated to training doctors involved in in-patient care.

Mazur also is an associate clinical professor of Medicine at Yale University School of Medicine and serves as co-host of “Health Talk,” Cablevision’s television show that provides health information for Fairfield County.

The show appears on Channel 84 with new 30-minute episodes every week. Mazur has recorded more than 300 episodes of the show the past 10 years. “Local physicians are guests and we discuss everything from hypertension to robotic surgery and cancer,” Mazur said.
