Come learn about life in and around vernal pools at the Weston Library from 4 to 5 p.m. April 30 as spring awakens in the world.
Naturalist Chris Evers of Animal Embassy will present photographs in a digital slide presentation. Attendees will be introduced to some of the enigmatic creatures that live in and around these ephemeral wetlands. You can also meet a variety of creatures, likely including spotted salamanders, a spotted turtle, gray tree frogs and more.
While you are with us for Part 1 of this program, there will be a sign-up sheet for Part 2 the Devil's Den Vernal Pool Field Trip. There is room for only 25 people on this walk, so registration is necessary. Discover some of the unique creatures that visit these pools once a year to lay their eggs, including wood frogs, American toads and spotted salamanders. On our walk, we'll investigate how these creatures have progressed in their metamorphosis. The Devil's Den Field Trip will be Saturday, May 21, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
