Owen Wilson and Jason Sudeikis crash and burn in the Warner Bros. release "Hall Pass." The actors play two married men named Rick and Fred who are best friends. Their wives, played by Jenna Fischer and Christina Applegate, see how restless the two have become at home and decide to grant them a hall pass. This allows them be marriage-free for one whole week.
At first, the men are ecstatic about the idea, but they quickly realize that their expectations were a little off. They waste the first few days saying that it takes time to find the right woman for a one-night-stand. Even their other friends who come along get bored.
Rick and Fred do occasionally think about going back to their wives. They try to enjoy themselves and their freedom but end up appreciating the love they have at home with their families.
This movie is a corny comedy but isn't as funny as I expected. All the best scenes are in the trailers. The actors weren't great and badly casted, in my opinion. There wasn't much chemistry between the married couples.
It's also extremely predictable. I didn't have to see the movie to know what would happen in the end. In addition, the story line is dry; the idea has been done too many times. It almost seemed like the directors were expecting the same reaction that "The Hangover" got, but the two movies don't compare.
I'm not a huge fan of slapstick comedies, but I do enjoy some. This, I did not enjoy. I was distracted throughout the whole movie and was waiting for it to end. If you like the actors and enjoy stupid comedies, go ahead and see it. But I sure don't recommend it. I give "Hall Pass" a 3 out of 10 for its corny, overdone story and unimpressive acting.
