Student Creativity Put to Test at Westport Library

Next time you visit the Westport Public Library, check out the 11 student posters lining one of the walls on the first floor.

Created by students sixth grade and up who live in or attend school in Westport or Weston, the posters are entries in the Westport Sunrise Rotary's 4-Way Test poster design contest. Participants were asked to create a poster based on the Rotary's 4-Way Test of ethical behavior, which asks four questions: Is it the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build goodwill and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

A three-judge panel will choose three winners, but the public is invited to vote for their favorite poster for the People's Choice Award. The first-place winner will receive $250, second-place $150, third-place $100. The winner of the People's Choice Award will also receive $100. All  winners also will receive two one-hour group sessions with Westport graphic designer Miggs Burroughs.

To vote for your favorite poster, pick up a ballot in the Audio/Visual Department, located on the first-floor of the library. Votes must be in by noon on Friday, June 17. Winners will be announced the following day at 2 p.m. in the library's McManus Room.

The contest is co-sponsored by Westport Sunrise Rotary and the Westport Public Library.
