Ring in the New Year, Westport/Weston Style

WESTPORT, Conn. – First Night Westport/Weston, an annual communitywide drug- and alcohol-free New Year's Eve celebration in downtown Westport, is just around the corner. But if you haven't bought your First Night buttons yet, don't worry — they'll be on sale through Saturday.

The event, which kicks off Saturday at 4 p.m. and runs through midnight, will feature more than 30 events and performances for children, teens and adults. Highlights include horse-drawn carriage rides, an antique car parade, children's firework display at 8:30 p.m., a midnight fireworks display, a circus act, face painting, psychics, caricatures, ballroom dancing and a variety of musical performances.

And because no New Year's Eve celebration would be complete without good eats, food and beverages from Bobby Q's will be offered at Christ & Holy Trinity Church.

First Night buttons, available for $15 each, give revelers admission to all of the events and performances. There is an additional charge for face painting, psychics and food. Children age 2 and under are free.

Buttons are available for purchase at the following locations: Westport Public Library (20 Jesup Road), Westport Weston Family Y (59 Post Road E.), Westport Historical Society (25 Avery Place), Trader Joe's (400 Post Road E.), Oscar's Deli (159 Main St.), TD Bank (185 Main St.), and Weston Hardware (190 Weston Road, Weston).

Buttons can also be purchased online and picked up in person at the Westport Weston Family Y on the day of the event. A printout confirming online purchase will be needed to pick up buttons.
