Nominations for Weston Citizen of the Year Sought

WESTON, Conn. – Do you know someone who has made great strides in Weston this year? The Weston Police Commission is accepting nominations for the 2012 Citizen of the Year award.

Every year, the commission recognizes an outstanding citizen of Weston who has demonstrated major accomplishments and dedication to the town.

Historically the person receiving this award has been involved in town programs, committees or organizations that contribute to the quality of life in town. Past winners include Fred Schneider, Don Gary, John Pokorny, Dawn Egan, Joe Abruzzi, Terri Gaberman, Betsy Peyreine, Lou and Miriam Demsey.

The Police Commissioners will be discussing each nominee at the end of March and will vote at the April board meeting. If you wish to submit a nominee, please have his/her name, bio and contact information sent to Hal Shupack by March 13. Information should also include a brief description of why the person qualifies for the award, including their accomplishments directly pertaining to Weston.

The award will be presented at the annual town budget meeting in April.
