Local Food Goes From Farm to Plate

Straight from the fields to your dinner plate is the theme for the first annual "Connecticut Farm to Chef Harvest Celebration," and Sport Hill Farm is putting an event on the menu. On Friday, Jeff Borofsky, owner of Skinny Pines Pizza truck, will co-host a luncheon with Sport Hill Farm owner Patti Popp to showcase the area's fresh ingredients.

"Jeff had approached me and asked to have it here right on the farm to connect people to their food," said Popp, whose farm is known for emphasizing local organic food. "The menu needs to consist of at least four separate items, each of them showcasing a locally grown product."

Local chefs will work with Sport Hill Farm and other farms in Connecticut to create dishes for attendees. The luncheon costs $31.80 per person and reservations and prepayment are required. For more information, email Patti Popp, or visit Sport Hill Farm at 596 Sport Hill Road in Easton.
