To the editor:
Having recently lost my elderly mother, I realized what a favor she did for my siblings and me by having all of her affairs in order and clearly spelled out – she left nothing to be misunderstood or taken advantage of. Not all families have the same outcome unfortunately.
Further, I learned of a local business that will need to be sold due to “legal engineering” of the deceased owner’s will. These are just two examples of why I believe our town needs an experienced and compassionate leader as Probate Judge – a person concerned with the needs of our population aging. We must have the right person as Probate Judge to look over the interests of the frail and elderly.
Lisa Wexler is the right choice. She is smart, experienced (24 years of actively practicing probate law in Westport) and is a student of constitutional law!
Lisa knows how to communicate with her constituents. She used her popular radio show as a platform to teach and inform our community about domestic violence, Alzheimer's disease, mental illness, senior citizen issues, estate planning, autism, foster care, learning disabilities, Down syndrome, aging, and grief. Conducted thousands of interviews with premiere experts from all over the world to bring this information to our community and to allow our community to ask questions of these experts. She also has been helping people on a pro bono basis since 1984.
Lisa does not stop working at 6 p.m. She is active in several charitable and nonprofit organizations where she lobbies in Hartford on behalf of the people she cares about.
In addition to the daily rigors and responsibilities of Probate Judge, Lisa will not accept new clients if elected, she will open Probate Court at night on a regular basis to serve working members of our community and Lisa will conduct seminars on the duties and responsibilities of conservators and guardians
On Nov. 5, please vote Lisa Wexler for Probate Judge.
