Letter: Weston Officials Should Have Updated Town

WESTON, Conn. — We are one of the unfortunate without power and find the total lack of communication frustrating as it is a repeat from Irene.

Have we learned nothing? Are we no better prepared? Did we do nothing to develop a better plan? Do we not have any improvements? It is not helpful to know that 70 percent of the town is dark.

As an individual, I do not have the leverage that the selectman has to communicate with CL&P officials. Other towns have collaborative command centers set with CL&P. We have Gayle Weinstein telling us that she has no information.

The officials in our town should have a communication line to the utility and should be able to identify at a minimum:

1. How many crews are working in town today?2. What the goals are for the day?3. An estimate of restoration.

We live in the lower Lyons Plain District and cannot see a tree or a wire down in the area. There is power to the traffic light at Route 57 and the street lights on Lyons Plain are lit.

There isn't a CL&P truck to be found.

We are in the dark, left in the cold — both figuratively and literally.

This is pathetic.

Eric Foertsch, Weston
