Lester Odams Jr., 82, Weston Air Force Veteran

WESTON, Conn. – Lester N. Odams Jr., 82, of Weston, died March 23 at Kimberly Hall Nursing Home in Windsor, Conn. A funeral service will be held in Maine on Saturday.

Odams was born in Scottsbluff, Neb. He attended Moses Brown School in Providence, R.I., and graduated cum laude from Amherst College. He served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. 

He worked for more than 30 years with General Electric, settling in Weston with his wife. He retired from GE while working at their corporate headquarters in Fairfield, and the couple moved to Beaufort, S.C., where they lived for 15 years. Odams returned to Connecticut after his wife died six days before their 50th wedding anniversary. 

Odams is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Mitchel; three sons, Lester Odams, Steven Odams and Jeffrey Odams; and seven grandchildren. 

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Forest Grove Cemetery in Augusta, Maine. Arrangements are in the care of Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home.
