The meeting will be held Thursday, Feb. 11, at the Saugatuck Congregational Church, 245 Post Road E., Westport.
Van Heerden will discuss his vision for future programs at the Quick Center.
Before he was named to lead the Quick Center, Van Heerden had served as executive director of the Westport Arts Center. Prior to that, he was senior faculty member in performance studies for 15 years at City Varsity School of Media and Creative Arts in Cape Town, South Africa. In that position he founded and served as artistic director of ERF 81 Cultural Collective, which brought together artists, performers, historians, educators and others who created projects that present the culture and heritage of South Africa.
He is a native of South Africa, and holds a bachelor’s degree in drama and classical civilization from Rhodes University, Grahamstown, South Africa, and a master’s degree in theater and performance, cum laude, from the University of Cape Town.
