Lacrosse Headlines Weston Fundraiser

Weston High graduate and Duke lacrosse player Tom Montelli is donating lacrosse game tickets and access to a players-only tailgate party to St. Francis of Assisi’s spring fund-raiser. Parishioners will come together March 19 for a St. Patrick’s/St. Joseph’s Fest, a celebration of Irish and Italian culture that takes place at the St. Francis parish hall, 35 Norfield Road, Weston.

Parishioners as well as friends, family and the community at large are invited. Calise’s and O’Neil’s Pub will serve Irish and Italian dinners, and the appetizer bar will be donated by Barcelona. Cocktails kick off at 6:30 p.m., followed by dancing and silent and live auctions.

The fund-raising committee needs financial donations as well as goods and services to give away. Auction items include vacations in the Bahamas and Vermont, a catered dinner, tickets to a Yankees-Red Sox game at Fenway Park, Jets tickets, a hot-air balloon ride and a football signed by the Indianapolis Colts.

A former St. Francis Youth Group member, Montelli and his family are donating four tickets to The Konica Minolta Big City Classic and access to a Duke players-only tailgate. Fest-goers can also bid for a private, one-hour lacrosse lesson.

For more information on donations, sponsorships and advertising, email Cheryl Bryant Komar at komar1@optonline.net or visit the St. Francis website. Tickets are $75 per person and can be purchased by calling Peggy Shaeffer at (203) 451-8239. Attire is smart casual, and the event is for adults only. Proceeds will benefit both St. Francis’ programs and its outreach efforts in Fairfield County. For additional details or to volunteer, email Bernie Park at bernie.mcgovern@hotmail.com.
