Have Holiday Fun While Giving Back in Weston

WESTON, Conn. – The entire family can get into the holiday spirit and raise money for a good cause at the Weston Women’s League annual Gingerbread Holiday Brunch.

The event features a holiday breakfast, gingerbread house decorating, photos with Santa, holiday music, arts and crafts and a moon bounce. Crafts for kids will include designing holiday cards, cell phone covers, scratch art and beading, painting sun catchers, spin art, sand art, decorating gingerbread houses and other activities.

"Children young and old love to decorate gingerbread houses, so we've decided to give our annual Children's Holiday Breakfast a new twist this year," said Weston Women’s League President Heather Pemberton Levy. “We're also adding holiday music by local choirs and musicians and a silent auction of custom-made gingerbread houses by local bakers."

Proceeds will benefit the Weston Warm Up Fund and Children’s Connection. The Warm Up Fund provides financial assistance to help families, individuals and senior citizens stay warm during the winter months. It helps low-income residents pay for the energy needed to heat a home, critically needed repairs to or replacement of heating equipment and home improvements to help increase energy efficiency.

The Children's Connection, a program of the Human Services Council, has been responding to the needs of neglected, physically and sexually abused children and their families for over 35 years. One of seven fully accredited child advocacy centers in Connecticut, the Children's Connection is a member of the National Children's Alliance. Its goals include decreasing the incidence of neglect and child sexual/physical abuse; supporting children and families in crisis with neglect and sexual/physical abuse issues, and increasing awareness of neglect and child sexual/physical abuse services.
