A goat has found a nice home at the Lunch Box in Weston. However, its fur is made with tea bags and its skeleton is composed of cardboard. The piece of art, affectionately called GoatTea, was created by participants in a special program offered at the increasingly popular Norfield Children's Center.
Westonite Mary Nosenzo runs an activity called Kids on the Loose, a project in which kids and adults team up to create goat kids. "It's a play on Cows on Parade," Nosenzo said, as she herded a few boys who were making robots with Legos at the church. "It's a small-town version of it."
Stamford's Cows on Parade was a charity auction a few years ago that made, exhibited and sold life-size ceramic cows to raise money for more than 25 Connecticut nonprofit organizations. Nosenzo's ambitions aren't as high, but she said she hopes to raise enough money to help the children's center and the Weston Historical Society's upcoming Spring Fling event May 14. The society is looking for funds to complete its archive center, and Kids on the Loose could help close the funding gap.
Nosenzo also hopes to partner with other local organizations such as the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts to help the historical society. At the Spring Fling, a herd of goat kid artwork will be displayed.
