EASTON, Conn. You can join the festivities this holiday season by decorating your front door as part of the Easton Garden Clubs Deck the Doors competition.
The competition highlights local talent and the natural beauty of the town, said Margot Abrams, garden club awards and scholarship chair.
Were hoping people make use of natural materials available right here in Easton, including textured greens, dried flowers and fruits, pinecones, berries and grasses," Abrams said. "The key is to be creative and to design a beautiful doorscape."
Homeowners, businesses and public spaces in Easton are all encouraged to submit entries. Doors will be judged on creativity, and an emphasis will be placed on the use of natural materials in the design. The creator of the winning door will receive a gift check from the Easton Garden Club.
The competition runs through Dec. 10. Entries are limited to one door per household, business or public space. Entry forms are available at the Easton library, town hall and senior center as well as online at www.eastongardenclub.com.
