Garden Club Begins Sprucing Up Easton for Holidays

EASTON, Conn. ? Residents will soon notice that Easton's beginning to look a lot like Christmas as members of the Easton Garden Club put up decorations for the holiday season.

Members of the club were out in force cutting down and collecting tree greens last week as a part of a longstanding tradition of enhancing Easton for the holidays. Part of the tradition includes decorating barrels and window boxes in town and placing wreaths on several town buildings in early December.

Last week, club members created holiday centerpieces and delivered them to nursing homes and other Easton organizations. The club also brings holiday cheer to homebound seniors through the delivery of poinsettias every December.

The club's goal is to increase an interest in gardening in the community and make residents aware of the care and culture of plants, shrubs, trees, bird and wildflowers.
