Fairfield County students will get to call the shots on the Easton Community Center's new teen committee.
"We want the teens to take ownership," said Billy Barrett, youth and teen director at the Easton Community Center. Two committees one for high school students and one for middle school students will brainstorm ideas for events and trips through the Easton Community Center. The committees will meet two times per month at a time to be determined.
"It will be a good bonding experience, and teens will develop leadership qualities," said Barrett.
The idea for the committee has been floated for a while, but it was only two weeks ago that Barrett put it into action. Barrett said he hopes the committee will keep members at the community center and get them to bring their friends, too.
