Easton has a lot to be thankful for this year. The high school volleyball team went to the state finals for the third time in four years, local artists are making their presence known and the police department captured two elusive burglars.
So it's no surprise when our town officials are all smiles when asked what they are thankful for. First Selectman Tom Herrmann said: "I am sincerely thankful to have the opportunity to serve the citizens of Easton. I am deeply grateful that Easton is an apolitical community of people with so many common values, who work together to promote, preserve and protect all that we hold dear. Being first selectman is among my greatest joys. Thank you, all, for the privilege."
Police Chief John Solomon is also thankful for the common values shared by Easton residents. "I'm thankful that we haven't had any serious ordeals that we've been involved with directly, and I hope that our efforts will continue to keep Weston a safe place."
Local World War II veteran Al Mecozzi was simple and direct about the source of his gratitude. "I'm thankful for my good health, my great family, my grandchildren who are multiplying! And thankful that we can enjoy Thanksgiving here together as a family at our house."
The Daily Easton is also thankful for all the generosity shown to us during our first year in town. This tight-knit community has welcomed us with open arms, and we are excited to become a part of the Easton vision.
