Community Supported Agriculture continues to gain momentum across the country and here in Fairfield County. CSA programs, such as the one at Sport Hill Farm in Easton, are partnerships between growers and consumers where commit to supporting farms throughout the season in a variety of ways.
Members buy in for a fixed fee, prior to the season. After registering, they pick up their share of the harvest weekly, biweekly or monthly, depending on the predetermined arrangement with the farm. Some farms incorporate a volunteer component to the contract, asking families to set up or break down stands at a pickup location. And according to the folks at the Fairfield Green Food Guide, such requirements are great opportunities to connect with the CSA community, swap recipes and share other culinary ideas.
