Drive-by Raking Hits the Town

If raking leaves were an Olympic sport, the St. Francis of Assisi youth group would hold multiple medals. As part of the parish's ongoing effort to help neighbors in need, the youth group staffed the "Drive-By-Raking" project this fall to rake and bag hundreds of pounds of leaves in Weston.

Led by Director Brenda DeMattio, the youth group's raking project is in its sixth consecutive year. According to DeMattio, at least two dozen middle and high school students participated in the clean-up along with seven adults.

"Homeowners were surprised and grateful as the group descended on their properties and treated them to much-needed fall raking," stated St. Francis parishioner Aline Weiller in a press release.

The raking project is a hands-on favorite of many youth group members who volunteer in the community throughout the year, especially during the holidays.
