WESTPORT, Conn. Dori Anne Bechtold, 62, of Weston and formerly of Westport, died March 30 in St. Vincent's Medical Center.
Born Aug. 6, 1949, Bechtold was raised in Freeport, N.Y., by the late Edward and Edna Bedell Bechtold. Growing up on the coast of Long Island nurtured what would be a lifelong love of water activities for Bechtold, including boating, beach visits and lap swimming at the Westport YMCA. She also enjoyed tending to her home and garden.
Bechtold found great satisfaction in helping others. She worked in sales for Cuthberson Imports for many years, then changed careers to become a certified nurse's aide. Bechtold cared for many clients with her private practice.
She is survived by her sister, Edwinna Nault of Cape Canaveral, Fla.; her brother, Kimball (Joan) Bechtold of Southport; a niece; and three nephews.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Lesko and Polke Funeral Home in Fairfield Center, with a prayer service following at 7 p.m. All other services will be private.
