Steve Carell and Ryan Gosling are side-splitting in the new romantic comedy Crazy, Stupid, Love." Cals (Carell) wife, Emily (Julianne Moore) confesses that she cheated on Cal with David Lindhagen (Kevin Bacon) and wants a divorce. Cal is crushed and immediately moves out, leaving their two kids, Robbie (Jonah Bobo) and Molly (Joey King), with Emily.
Cal starts spending evenings at a local bar that Jacob (Gosling) also goes to. Jacob is quite the ladies man and brings women home very frequently. Jacob tells Cal he needs a makeover and needs to get over his wife, and offers to help.
This is the funniest movie Ive seen in a long time. Throughout the whole movie I either couldnt breathe, or I was crying. The entire audience was filled with laughter. Gosling and Emma Stone were the most entertaining in my opinion. I wish they had been in more scenes. But for someone who usually plays more serious roles, Gosling was shockingly the most hilarious of them all.
The story line is not very original, but there is something about it that makes it unique. Maybe it is its quirkiness and its unexpected mix of actors. In addition, there are several surprises in the plot that will make your jaw drop. There is one scene toward the end where all is revealed. It was my favorite part of the movie, and the funniest.
My only complaint is how cliché it was, but I expected that. Whether youre male or female, 15 or 50, you will laugh hysterically, even if you dont love the movie as a whole.
This is definitely a film that I would recommend to anyone. I give Crazy, Stupid, Love. an 8 out of 10. I cant wait to see it again.
