Club's Party Will Welcome Newcomers

Moving to a new town can be overwhelming, especially when you are unfamiliar with the people, places and things to do in town. But on Saturday, the Weston Newcomers and Neighbors Club is looking to make it a little easier to adjust by holding the Weston Welcome Party.

New residents are welcome to join the club for cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and conversation from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25.

The club organizes events throughout the year, including holiday socials, game nights, a tennis club, community outreach events, movie nights, golf outings, bowling, spa retreats, men's poker nights and more. The Dining-In Club gets families together for themed nights at members' houses while the Dining-Out group organizes dinners at local restaurants. In the spring, the club organizes a progressive dinner with a theme, where families go to one house for appetizers, another for entrees and a third for dessert.

The "Mommy and Me Book Club" is a popular group that combines a book club with a playgroup atmosphere for stay-at-home parents. The playgroups, which are organized by age, meet once a week.

"It's not the only way to meet people, but it's really good," said Jennifer Roh, the club's publicity chair. "It's a springboard so people can get active in their first year" in Weston.

If you plan to attend, RSVP as soon as possible to Kim Forte at 203-557-4840 or kbforte@yahoo.com so the hosts can get an exact number for the caterers. When you RSVP, you'll learn the address of the party.
