An artist from a very young age, Wirtenberg started by drawing portraits of friends and neighbors in pastel. She later took up oil painting and sculpture. She has studied oil portraiture with John McClelland and watercolor with Hannah Fehrenbach at the Silvermine School of Art in New Canaan.

After graduating from Barnard College, Wirtenberg became a city planner and received a professional degree from the Graduate School of Architecture at Pratt Institute. She also has a doctorate from New York University’s Graduate School of Public Administration.

As a regional planner, Wirtenberg said, she used her creative skills and understanding of urban design to translate visual cues from the environment into good planning.

Included in her latest exhibition will be watercolors of Weston scenes and subjects ranging from the mundane to the ethereal.

The senior center is at 9 School Road, Weston. For more information, call (203)-222-2608, or email margaret@aboutweston.com
