Artist Gives His Take on Addams

They aren't particularly spooky or definitely kooky, and ooky doesn't really mean anything, but the art of "The Addams Family" creator Charles Addams is on display at the Westport Library. Fairfield artist Al Coyote Weiner and Fay Carpenter walked among the crowd, pausing and appreciating the work, at last night's reception.

"Oh I love it, I'm into humor," Weiner said as checked out the exhibit. Although a few depict the iconic Addams Family, which inspired the television show of the same name, most of the pieces cover an array of darkly comedic characters and circumstances.

Weiner, who considers himself an Avant-garde artist, said the Westport Library has previously turned down some of his submissions. He has work in Monroe's Edith Wheeler Memorial Library.

The Charles Addams Show, presented by the Tee and Charles Addams Foundation, will remain on display until Sept. 30.
