Artist Draws Out Kids' Talents

Children can nurture their art talent and learn drawing, working in oils, pastels and watercolors, and jewelry making in classes this month and next at the Easton Community Center. They will be taught by Easton mixed media artist and Joel Barlow High School graduate Michelle Sandone. Sandone, a certified art teacher, is a graduate of Southern Connecticut State University. Classes include:

? Drawing for ages 11 to 14, Mondays, 5:45 to 7:15 p.m., Sept. 20 to Oct. 25. Students will learn basic skills and techniques in a variety of media. Bring a 9" by 12" drawing pad to class the first day.

? Jewelry making to children ages 10 and older, Mondays, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., Sept. 20 to Oct. 25. Students will learn basics of stringing beads, wrapping wire, crimping, plus how to use the tools of this art. They will have the opportunity to design their own charms, necklaces, bracelets and earrings. Materials are provided, but students may bring beads from home.

? Mixed media for pupils 5 to 8 years old, Tuesdays, 4:30 to 6 p.m., Sept. 21 to Oct. 19. Sandone will teach working with pencils, chalk, oil, pastels, watercolors and acrylics and making collages. A mixed media class for students 9 to 12 will be offered on Tuesdays, 6:15 to 7:45 p.m.

? "Study of the Masters," Fridays, 4:15 to 5:45 p.m., Sept. 24 to Oct. 22. Students will learn different techniques and create original works using the style of a different famous artist every week.
