WESTON, Conn. Adam Wysota of Weston, an active volunteer and coach in town, died May 6 after suffering a heart attack. He was 47.
Wysota was managing director and chief technology officer at Depository Trust & Clearing Corp. The night before he died, Wysota was walking in Relay for Life, the annual fundraising event for the American Cancer Society at the Weston High School track.
Every year for the last decade, he coached Weston Little League, Babe Ruth baseball and Weston Recreation League basketball teams. His son, Austin, a freshman at Weston High School, said his father loved coaching because of the camaraderie and said he enjoyed "experiencing all the highs and the lows."
Wysota was born March 2, 1965, in Kew Gardens, N.Y. He skipped a grade of high school to graduate in 1982 and went on to earn bachelor's degrees in physics, mathematics and chemistry in 1986 from Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y.
He was awarded a master's degree in astrophysics from Stony Brook University in 1989. While on track to earn a doctorate in astrophysics, Wysota met his future wife and opted instead to find a good job. He was introduced to Allison O'Reilly after her mother met Wysota at a party and described him as "a man of integrity."
Before his career with DTCC, he held similar positions at Barclays Capital and Lehman Brothers. He also worked for 11 years as an executive director at Morgan Stanley's Institutional Securities.
A New York Jets fan, Wysota talked many times about aligning with another NFL team but was too loyal to abandon his favorite team. He recently predicted the team would win the championship with Tim Tebow.
He is survived by his wife, Allison; three sons, Andrew, Austin and Addison; and a sister, Jami Wysota.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Black Rock Congregational Church in Fairfield. Spear-Miller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Save the Children or United Way.
