Westport Painter's 'Art & Storytelling' Exhibit To Open At Library

WESTPORT, Conn. -- Westport painter Heidi Palmer takes focus on light, art and the meaning of time in her work. These elements are present in a collection, "Art & Storytelling: Paintings By Heidi Palmer" at the Westport Library. The exhibit opens with a reception Friday, Jan. 13.

Light is the point of departure in Palmer's paintings. It governs her compositions, defines form, and serves as the catalyst for delving into the ephemeral effects of air and atmosphere, which clarify the painting's sense of place.

This new exhibit in Westport's Great Hall is a chance for viewers to experience in her paintings a sense of time and place that enables them to explore their own memories and stories.

The exhibit will run from January 6-March 15, and an opening reception for the artist will be held on Friday, January 13, from 6-7:30 pm in The Great Hall.

The reception and exhibit are free and open to the public (please use the Library's upper-level entrance).

Palmer attended L'École des Beaux Arts de Montréal, Canada, and earned a BFA from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn.

She has shown her work in numerous group and solo shows around New England and has paintings included in public collections, among them, New York Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City; Reader's Digest Foundation in Pleasantville, and NY; Wachovia Bank in New Haven, among other places.
