Weston Kids Swim At Bisceglie-Scribner Park Pond

WESTON, Conn. – The Bisceglie-Scribner Park pond is the place to be this summer for Weston families with young children.

The shallow end of the pond is great for wading, there’s a playground area and there’s even an ice cream vending machine for the first time.

“It’s excellent for kids seven and under,” said Lori Barshop, a Weston mother of three who was enjoying the pool Saturday, the opening day of the season. “It’s so safe and serene versus the craziness of Compo and they’ve done a lot since we first moved here. There’s more shade and it’s a pleasant experience.”

The pond is open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. through Labor Day. It’s free to residents with passes that are available online and at the pond. Guests are welcome.

Most children swim in the shallow end but it’s eight feet deep beyond the rope. Children under 10 must take a swim test administered by a life guard to swim in the deep end, according to Lynn Stevens, Weston aquatic director Lynn Stevens.

The pool at the Middle School will be closed all summer due to a window-replacement project making the Bisceglie-Scribner Pond the central location for Weston swimming this season.
