Preparations Underway for St. Dimitrie's Festival in Easton

EASTON, Conn.  St. Dimitrie Orthodox Church Reverend Cornel Todeasa and a group of parishioners are already hard at work preparing ethnic food for its weekend festival.  

“Ethnic food cooked here will be enjoyed by all,” Rev. Todeasa said.

Lamb shish-kebob cooked on an open rotisserie will be available for the first time, along with stuffed cabbage, baked fish, mititei and spinach pita, baklava, sweet braided bread and ethnic pastries.

The 33rd annual festival will also features pony rides and other children’s activities, live music, ethnic line dancing and church tours.

St. Dimitrie Orthodox Church, founded in Bridgeport in 1924, has been located in Easton since 2009.

The festival will be held Friday evening from 5 to 9 p.m., Saturday from noon to 9 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m., rain or shine. Admission is free, and parking is available at the church located at 504 Sport Hill Road.
